We place the highest possible value on the protection and security of your data. If the following information regarding privacy at Cogo is not sufficient, we are available to answer further questions via firstname.lastname@example.org
The legal basis for privacy in connection with our services is provided by the Dutch legal regulations, Cogo's services are hosted on servers in The Netherlands. There are fundamental differences between inventory data, content information (the data you collect with the app) and traffic data.
We allow you to start a contract with us without entering personal user information (for example, your name, address and birthday). We only need an email address to do things such as sign up for your account, and reset your credentials. Your password is encrypted (salted hash) and stored in our database and can not be read by us.
We give you the option to use some of our services free of charge. These free services are made possible by the fact that some users upgrade to one of our paid services. If you register for our free services, we could, from time to time, send you information about upgrades when permissible. Users who receive these marketing materials can opt out at any time. If you do not want to receive marketing materials from us, simply click the ‘unsubscribe’ link in any email.
Content data is the data you collect using the Cogo app. This data is typically stored locally on your devices (smart phone, tablet, etc.) and transmitted in your own ways to your own GIS service(s) using the WFS-T protocol. Content data, as well as location information, ip address and identifiers associated with your devices, are never stored or transmitted to our services. Content data is a straight connection to your own GIS service(s), it is not possible for us to see the content data you are collecting.
To make it easier to collect data and share surveying results with others, related information is stored to connect to your GIS service(s). This is data such as the service url, preferences, map configurations and users invited to collect data. We point out that it is possible, purely from a technical perspective, for us to see your related information. We ensure you that we will not view or use your related information at any time. Our servers' hard drives are encrypted. If the servers were to be stolen or impounded, your related information is, according to current technology, safe.
If you end your contract and we delete your account (including uses, preferences, access information and related information), your data remains saved in the backups for thirty days, and then it is completely deleted. If an account's credit runs out, we will never delete it straight away. You can, of course, always request for your account to be deleted immediately – in this case your data will still remain within our backups for thirty days.
Traffic data means data that accrues by using Cogo. We log every time an user signs in, to diagnose technical problems, quickly understand and eliminate errors and to recognise misuse. This data is automatically deleted after thirty days. In addition, we anonymously compile usage data unconnected with accounts. These statistics do not contain IP addresses. We don't save the IP addresses of anyone who uses Cogo webadmin or uses the Cogo app.
For authentication we use so-called session cookies in Cogo webadmin and the Cogo app. The data that is saved to your computer serves exclusively for authentication and is, in particular, not used to compile user profiles or the like. The cookies are deleted at the end of the respective session.
We will never freely circulate your information to third parties. In some specific legally-governed cases, in particular with submission of a Dutch judicial ruling in the case of a crime, we are required to hand over an account (including settings, access information and related information, etc). However, we cannot hand over the content data because this data is never stored to our services.
Because you pay for our service in advance, we do not require any credit check information from you. In addition, we do not engage any collection agencies to pursue debts.
